| Obverse description | Bare diademed head of Mithradates VI Eupator facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition with youthful, idealized features. The king's abundant, wavy hair radiates dramatically from the crown of the head and falls in long, undulating locks behind the neck, a hallmark of his portraiture inspired by Alexander the Great. The diadem is tied at the back with trailing ribbons visible above the neckline. The portrait is executed in high relief with fine detail in the hair and facial modeling, conveying both divine pretension and regal authority. |
