Reverse description Pegasos, the winged horse, standing left with head lowered to graze, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with carefully detailed musculature and wings folded along the body. The Greek legend BAΣIΛEΩΣ (of the King) appears in the upper field above the figure, while MIΘPAΔATOY / EYΠATOPOΣ (of Mithradates / Eupator) is disposed in two lines in the lower field. A star-in-crescent symbol occupies the left field, and a control monogram appears to the right of the horse. The entire design is enclosed within a Dionysiac wreath composed of ivy leaves and bunches of fruit, a motif emblematic of the royal house of Pontos and its association with the cult of Dionysos.
