| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of Mithridates II facing left, the diadem rendered with fine striations and long flowing ties descending behind the neck. The king wears a prominent torque at the throat, ornamented with spherical terminals, and a cuirass or gorget decorated with pellets visible at the shoulder. A full, carefully articulated beard frames the face, and the hair is depicted in wavy ridges beneath the diadem. The entire portrait is enclosed within a beaded border, characteristic of Parthian royal coinage of this period. |

| Reverse description | Arsakes I, the dynastic founder, depicted as a bearded archer seated to the right upon an omphalos, his body in three-quarter view. He holds a strung bow in his right hand, the weapon serving as the enduring dynastic emblem of the Arsacid house. A palm branch appears to the outer right of the figure, symbolising victory and royal authority. The Greek dynastic legend surrounds the type in the field, reading BAΣIΛEΩΣ MEΓAΛOΥ AΡΣAKOΥ EΠIΦANOΥΣ, translating as 'of the Great King Arsakes, the Epiphanes (god-manifest)'. The reverse composition follows the well-established Sellwood 24 series typology for Mithridates II tetradrachms. |
