| Reverse description | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a high-backed throne, his upper body nude and draped below the waist, holding a long sceptre upright in his left hand and extending his right hand to present an eagle with spread wings perched upon his outstretched palm. Beneath the throne, a reclining figure or symbol is visible in the lower left field. The legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs vertically along the right field, while the magistrate's name ΜΕΝΕΚΡΑΤΗΣ appears in the exergue below the throne, identifying the issuing authority at the Chios mint. The composition follows the canonical Alexandrine reverse type established under Alexander III. |
