Additional information

Ephesos operated under shifting Persian satrapial authority through much of the fourth century, and coinage from this period reflects the city's awkward position between Achaemenid administrative demands and its own commercial traditions. The magistrate name Menekrates appears on a small group of issues within this decade, placing production squarely in the years following the King's Peace of 387 BC — an agreement that formally returned the Ionian Greek cities, including Ephesos, to Persian control.

SNG Copenhagen 231 remains the standard reference anchor for this type.
