Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena in right profile, rendered in the New Style Athenian manner with fine Classical detail. The goddess wears a crested Attic helmet adorned on the bowl with a coiled griffin in high relief, its wings and body finely engraved. Locks of hair fall in undulating waves onto the neck, and the facial features — almond-shaped eye, straight nose, and slightly parted lips — exhibit the idealized Hellenistic style characteristic of late Athenian coinage. The whole is set within a dotted border.
