| Obverse description | Heroic bust of King Menander I facing left and seen from the rear in three-quarter view, the king depicted bare-shouldered and nude save for an aegis draped over the left shoulder, his head surmounted by a crested Macedonian helmet adorned with a royal diadem. The treatment of the figure is vigorous and sculptural, characteristic of the Bactrian-Hellenistic die-cutting tradition. No legend appears on the obverse. |
