| Obverse description | Griffin seated to right in three-quarter view, with elaborately spread wings rising prominently behind, the body rendered with fine feathering detail and powerful haunches. The mythical creature is depicted with its head turned to face left, beak open, and one foreleg raised. The legend MEΓΑ appears in archaic Greek characters along the left field. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border, executed in the bold, vigorous style characteristic of early Classical Thracian coinage. |
