| Reverse description | Athena Nikephoros seated left upon a throne, her right hand extending forward to hold Nike, the winged goddess of victory, who faces left and crowns the royal name in the legend; Athena's left arm rests upon a large round shield decorated with a lion's head boss. A long spear is placed transversely behind the figure. The two-line Greek legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ ('of King Lysimachus') frames the composition, with a monogram to the inner left field and a second monogram below the right portion of the legend, serving as mint control marks for the Sardis mint. |
