| Obverse description | Diademed head of the deified Alexander III of Macedon facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic relief with flowing, elaborately curled hair. The prominent ram's horn of Ammon curls forward from behind the ear, asserting Alexander's divine status as son of Zeus-Ammon. The royal diadem is visible above the brow, its ends trailing into the hair behind. The portrait is executed with exceptional plasticity and idealized heroic features characteristic of the finest Lysimachean coinage, filling the flan with commanding presence. |

The royal legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ is disposed in two lines flanking the central device, identifying the issuing authority as King Lysimachus. |
