Obverse description Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, wearing the horn of Ammon curling behind his ear, a distinguishing divine attribute associating him with Zeus-Ammon. The effigy displays finely rendered flowing hair swept back beneath the diadem, with an expressive idealized portrait in the Hellenistic tradition. A dotted border frames the design along the upper edge of the flan. The portrait is executed with exceptional high relief, characteristic of the finest Lampsacene die work of the early third century BC.
