| Reverse description | Athena Nikephoros seated left on a throne, draped and helmeted, holding a small Nike figure in her extended right hand and resting her left arm upon a large round shield decorated with a lion's head device; a spear leans against her left shoulder. In the left field, the legend ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ runs vertically downward, and ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ appears in the right field. A prow of a galley is depicted in the exergue, serving as a mint or control mark characteristic of the Herakleia Pontika issues. The composition is boldly modeled with fine drapery folds and confident die engraving in the mature Hellenistic tradition. |
