Obverse description Diademed head of the deified Alexander the Great facing right, wearing the horn of Ammon curling above his ear, with flowing curly hair rendered in fine Hellenistic style. The portrait is bold and highly detailed, set within a plain inner field bordered by a beaded outer rim. The facial features convey a heroic, idealized character consistent with posthumous portrait coinage of Alexander issued by his successors.
