| Obverse description | Head of the deified Heracles in right profile, wearing the Nemean lion scalp headdress, the beast's mane rendered in bold flowing curls cascading around the neck and temple. The effigy follows the canonical Lysippan portrait type associated with Alexander III, displaying youthful features with a strong jaw and prominent brow. The lion's paws are knotted at the throat, a hallmark of this celebrated Macedonian coinage tradition. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, with the design well-centered within a plain field devoid of legend. |
