Obverse description Right-facing head of the youthful Herakles in three-quarter profile, wearing the Nemean lion scalp headdress with the lion's mane rendered in detailed relief and the paws knotted at the throat. The portraiture reflects the idealized Lysippan convention associating Alexander III with the hero Herakles. The flan is bordered by a partial beaded border visible along the right rim, with the field otherwise unadorned.
