Obverse description Head of the deified Heracles facing right, wearing the Nemean lion scalp headdress, its paws knotted at the throat. The portrait displays the idealized heroic features traditionally associated with Alexander III, rendered in fine high relief with carefully detailed flowing locks of hair visible beneath and around the scalp. The field is plain and unlettered, the style consistent with posthumous Macedonian coinage of the early third century BC.
