| Obverse description | Youthful head of Heracles facing right, depicted beardless, enveloped in the Nemean lion skin headdress, the scalp drawn over the crown and the forepaws knotted at the throat. The portrait is rendered in high relief with bold, sculptural modelling characteristic of the Hellenistic die-cutting tradition, the curling locks of hair visible beneath the lion skin framing the face with fine engraved detail. The field is plain, with no legend or additional devices. |
