Obverse description Youthful head of Heracles facing right, unbearded, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress with the scalp knotted beneath the chin, the paws draped over the shoulder. The portrait is rendered in fine high relief with naturalistic curling hair visible beneath the leonine headdress, displaying the accomplished die-cutting style characteristic of the early Pella mint. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of hammered silver coinage of this period.
