Obverse description Youthful beardless head of Heracles in right-facing profile, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, the gaping jaws framing the hero's crown and the knotted forepaws visible at the neck. The facial features are rendered with fine Hellenistic artistry, displaying a straight nose, slightly parted lips, and a serene, idealised expression. The lion skin headdress, a canonical attribute of Heracles, frames the entire head and fills the field, with the mane rendered in deeply incised, twisted locks.
