| Obverse description | Youthful bare head of Heracles facing right, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, the gaping jaws framing the forehead and the forepaws knotted at the neck. The portraiture is rendered in a confident Hellenistic style with carefully modelled curling locks visible beneath the headdress, the facial features displaying a fleshy, slightly idealised treatment characteristic of posthumous Alexandrine coinage struck at Chios. No legend or inscription appears on the obverse field. |
