Obverse description Youthful bare head of Herakles in right profile, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, with the beast's muzzle visible above the forehead and its paws knotted at the throat. The hero's idealized features — strong brow, well-defined nose, and slightly parted lips — are rendered in high relief in the finest Macedonian engraving tradition. The lionskin headdress frames the face with naturalistic locks of hair visible beneath, conveying both divine heroism and royal lineage. The flan is slightly irregular at the edges, as characteristic of hammered coinage of this period.

Reverse description Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned to the left on a low stool-throne, his upper body nude and his lower body draped. He extends his right arm forward, upon which an eagle with closed wings perches, while his left hand grasps a long sceptre. In the left field, a lambda (Λ) appears above a torch, serving as control marks specific to the Amphipolis mint. Beneath the throne, the letter M and a star serve as additional control symbols. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, identifying the coin as struck in the name of Alexander.
