| Reverse description | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a backless throne (stool-throne), his outstretched right hand supporting an eagle and his left hand grasping a long sceptre. In the left field, a sphinx seated left is positioned above a monogram; the letter Δ (delta) appears below the throne as an additional control mark. The principal legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, identifying the issue as struck in the name of Alexander. These control symbols — the sphinx, monogram, and delta — are characteristic of the Chian mint's posthumous series and serve as key attribution markers. |
