| Obverse description | Youthful head of Herakles facing right, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress with the scalp drawn over the crown and knotted at the throat, the lion's jaws framing the hero's face. The hair falls in fine wavy locks along the neck, rendered in the idealised Lysippan tradition associated with Alexandrine coinage. The fleshy, well-modelled facial features display high relief characteristic of late third-century Hellenistic die-cutting. A fine beaded border encircles the field. |
