In the left field, a sphinx seated left occupies the upper register above a monogram, serving as the civic control symbol of Chios. Beneath the throne, the letter A appears as a secondary control mark. The retrograde ethnic legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, identifying the issue as struck in the name of Alexander. |
