Reverse description Zeus Aetophoros enthroned left on a backless stool-throne, his outstretched right hand supporting an eagle and his left hand grasping a long sceptre; the god is depicted draped from the waist down. In the left field, a sphinx seated left occupies the upper register above a monogram, serving as the civic control symbol of Chios. Beneath the throne, the letter A appears as a secondary control mark. The retrograde ethnic legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, identifying the issue as struck in the name of Alexander.
