| Obverse description | Youthful beardless head of Heracles in right profile, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, the beast's jaw framing the hero's crown and the paws knotted at the neck. The rendering is executed in the fine Hellenistic tradition, with richly modelled curls of hair escaping beneath the lion-skin headdress. The fleshy, idealised facial features — high cheekbones, full lips, and a strongly defined nose — reflect the canonical Alexander-type portraiture established under the Macedonian royal coinage. No legend appears on the obverse field. |
