Obverse description Facing head of Apollo, rendered in the three-quarter frontal style characteristic of late Classical Carian coinage, with the face turned very slightly to the right. The god's youthful, idealised features are framed by flowing wavy locks of hair that cascade to either side in thick, naturalistic curls. A laurel wreath encircles the head, its leaves rendered in fine relief. The modelling is of high artistic quality, reflecting the accomplished die-cutting tradition of Hekatomnid Halicarnassus.
