| Obverse description | King Huviska depicted seated or riding in three-quarter view, rendered in the distinctive Kushan artistic style with elaborate royal regalia. The figure is shown with characteristic Kushan costume including trousers and tunic, with flames or divine nimbus emanating from the shoulders, indicative of royal divinity. The Bactrian legend ÞAO NANO ÞAO OOHÞKI KOÞANO, meaning 'King of Kings, Huviska the Kushan', runs around the periphery of the field in cursive Bactrian script. The coin surface displays a dark olive-green patina typical of well-circulated Kushan bronze issues. The irregular flan edges and variable die alignment are characteristic of the hammered coinage of this dynasty. |
