| Reverse description | A quadripartite incuse square occupies the entire reverse field, divided by raised ridges into four equal recessed compartments arranged symmetrically around a central cross. The incuse technique, characteristic of early Greek coinage derived from Aeginetan practice, produces four deeply sunken rectangular panels with smooth, flat surfaces. No legend or additional devices are present. The stark geometric design contrasts effectively with the dynamic obverse type and is typical of Abderite tetradrachms of the early Classical period. |
