| Obverse description | Griffin seated left in high relief, the body rendered with finely detailed scales and feathers throughout. The creature raises its right foreleg in a characteristic pose, with a powerful hooked beak and prominent ear tufts visible in left-facing profile. The large, striated wings are spread upward and to the right, and a curling serpentine tail is depicted to the lower right. The whole type is contained within a beaded border, with the figure set upon a ground line, in the accomplished engraving style associated with the Abderan coinage of the late fifth century BC. |

The magistrate's name, identifying the eponymous official responsible for the issue, is distributed in Greek letters around the central type. The incuse technique is characteristic of early Abderan coinage practice, reflecting Ionian die-cutting traditions inherited from the city's Tean founders. |
