| Reverse description | Athena standing facing left, helmeted and draped, holding a spear in her right hand and a shield resting at her side, rendered in the traditional Alexandrian provincial style. The goddess occupies the central field of the coin, her figure modelled in low relief consistent with hammered billon coinage of the period. The regnal date legend ЄT-ENAT, denoting Year 9 of Hadrian's reign, appears divided in the field to either side of the figure. The overall execution reflects the workshop conventions of the Roman provincial mint at Alexandria during the early second century AD. |
