| Obverse description | Youthful, beardless head of Heracles in right profile, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress, the scalp drawn over the crown with the forelegs knotted at the throat. The modeling is bold and vigorous, rendered in the characteristic late Hellenistic style, with the mane of the lion skin fanning dramatically around the periphery. The entire design is set within a plain border of fine dots. |
