Obverse description Bare-headed, laureate and diademed portrait of Philetairos, founder of the Attalid dynasty, facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style with richly detailed curling hair bound by a taenia and laurel wreath. The effigy displays a strong, idealized profile with clearly defined features including a prominent brow, straight nose, and full lips. The neck is bare, truncated at the lower field. The design is enclosed within a plain dotted border, characteristic of Pergamene coinage of the early third century BC.
