| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a crested Attic helmet adorned with a decorative scroll motif and an elaborate plume of feathers. The goddess is depicted with fine, carefully rendered facial features in the late Hellenistic style characteristic of the New Style Athenian coinage. The helmet is embellished with a wreath of leaves at the brow, and the hair curls gracefully beneath the helmet's rim onto the neck. The flan is bordered by a raised dotted rim, and the overall execution reflects the refined die-cutting tradition of the Athenian mint during the late second century BC. |
