Obverse description A large, finely rendered bee depicted in full face with spread wings shown horizontally across the field, the segmented abdomen and thorax rendered in high relief with naturalistic detail. The head of the bee faces upward, displaying prominent antennae and compound eyes. The city ethnic E-Φ (abbreviation for Ephesos) flanks the bee on left and right respectively, rendered in bold Greek characters. A fine beaded border encircles the entire design.

Reverse description The forepart of a stag rendered to the right, with head turned back to the left in a graceful pose, displaying finely engraved antlers. A tall palm tree with fronds occupies the left field. The magistrate's name EOEΛΘΩ[N] is inscribed vertically to the right of the stag in Greek letters, identifying the issuing authority. The overall composition is characteristic of the refined artistic style of Ephesian coinage of the late Classical period.
