| Reverse description | Poseidon, half-draped, seated left upon a rocky outcrop, his muscular torso bare and his lower body draped. In his extended right hand he holds an aphlaston (the curved stern ornament of a warship), a direct allusion to Demetrius's celebrated naval victories, while his left arm rests upon a tall trident planted at his side. In the left field, a Phrygian helmet serves as a mint control mark. The royal legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ runs in two lines in the field, identifying the issuing authority. |
