Obverse description Diademed head of Demetrius Poliorcetes facing right, distinguished by a prominent bull's horn rising from the diadem above the forehead, a divine attribute associating the king with Poseidon and Dionysus. The portrait is rendered in a fine Hellenistic style with naturalistic facial features, wavy hair swept back beneath the diadem, and a strong, youthful profile. The coin border is formed by a delicate ring of beads. No legend appears on the obverse, the portrait itself serving as the sole identifying device.

Reverse description Poseidon, half-draped, seated left upon a rocky outcrop, his muscular torso bare and his lower body draped. In his extended right hand he holds an aphlaston (the curved stern ornament of a warship), a direct allusion to Demetrius's celebrated naval victories, while his left arm rests upon a tall trident planted at his side. In the left field, a Phrygian helmet serves as a mint control mark. The royal legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ runs in two lines in the field, identifying the issuing authority.
