Obverse description Youthful diademed head of Demetrius I Poliorcetes facing right, adorned with a small bull's horn rising above the diadem at the left temple, a hallmark of his divine association with Poseidon. The hair is rendered in fine, naturalistic curls swept back from the forehead in the Hellenistic tradition. The facial features are idealized yet individualistic, displaying a strong profile with a prominent brow and delicate lips. The fillet of the diadem trails behind the neck. The field is plain, with no legend on the obverse.
