| Obverse description | Draped bust of Demetrios I of Baktria facing right, helmeted with an elephant scalp — an iconographic allusion to his Indian conquests and association with the Dionysian and Heraklean traditions. The portrait is rendered in the Hellenistic style with fine naturalistic modelling, the elephant's trunk curving over the brow and the tusks flanking the cheeks. The field is plain, with no legend on the obverse, following the established convention for this coin type. |
