| Obverse description | Youthful head of the deified Heracles in right-facing profile, beardless and unbearded, enveloped in the scalp of the Nemean lion worn as a headdress, the gaping jaws framing the brow and the mane cascading behind the neck in deeply modelled folds. The facial features are rendered in the idealized Hellenistic style, with full lips, a straight nose, and large almond-shaped eye. The field is plain and the design is contained within a beaded border characteristic of Rhodian issues struck in the name of Alexander III. |
