| Reverse description | Zeus Aetophoros enthroned left on a backless stool-throne, his feet resting on a low footstool, holding an eagle on his outstretched right hand and a long sceptre upright in his left. In the left field, the figure of Artemis Phosphoros stands facing, holding two torches, positioned above a monogram. The Greek legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the upper and right fields, identifying this issue as struck in the name of Alexander III. The overall composition follows the canonical Alexandrine reverse type but is distinguished by the Thracian dynastic symbol of Artemis Phosphoros. |
