Obverse description Laureate, cuirassed bust of Emperor Carinus facing three-quarters to the right, rendered in the distinctive Alexandrian provincial style. The portrait displays the characteristic late Roman military dress with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. A Greek imperial legend encircles the bust, reading from upper left around the periphery of the flan. The die engraving, typical of late third-century Alexandrian coinage, presents a slightly stylized facial treatment with the emperor's features rendered in low relief against the broad, irregular flan.
