Obverse description Stylized beardless male head facing right, rendered in the abstracted Celtic artistic tradition derived from Macedonian prototypes. The hair is depicted as a mass of large rounded pellets and sweeping curvilinear locks radiating from the crown, filling the left field in a highly schematized, almost vegetal pattern. The facial features are boldly modeled with a prominent rounded cheek, a defined chin, and a subtly rendered eye. A beaded border runs along the right and lower periphery of the flan, framing the design. The overall treatment reflects the progressive Celticization of the Hellenistic portrait type.
