| Obverse description | Griffin leaping to left in bold archaic relief, depicted with outstretched wings rendered in fine parallel striations, the creature's leonine haunches and taloned forelegs rendered with vigorous plasticity. The head is shown with open beak and alert eye, conveying the mythological authority of the city's civic emblem. The partial legend ΑΡΤΕ appears in the upper field in archaic Greek characters, identifying the issuing magistrate. The design is enclosed within a beaded border, and a small hole is pierced through the right field, consistent with later use as a pendant. |

The incuse technique reflects the standard reverse die practice of the period, serving as the anvil impression of the obverse type. A small piercing is visible at the lower left, corresponding to the hole observable on the obverse. No legend or additional device is present. |
