Obverse description Turreted bust of Tyche facing right, wearing a mural crown with three battlements, her long wavy hair elaborately rendered and falling in loose curls over her neck and shoulder. The portrait is executed in high relief with refined Hellenistic artistry, conveying a serene and idealised feminine countenance. The broad, plain field surrounding the effigy is devoid of inscription, allowing the finely engraved portrait to dominate the flan. The truncation of the neck is clean and unadorned, consistent with Smyrnaean coinage of the mid-second century BC.
