| Obverse description | Helmeted warrior on horseback moving left, depicted in the prancing pose with the horse's forelegs raised; the rider is shown in three-quarter view, wearing a petasos-style cap, and extends two spears diagonally across the field to the right. The figure is rendered with fine modelling characteristic of late 5th-century Macedonian die-cutting, the musculature of the horse rendered with particular naturalism. No legend appears on the obverse; the design fills the flan with confident, high-relief artistry. |

| Reverse description | The forepart of a kneeling goat to the right, its head turned back to the left in a characteristic pose of alertness, rendered in fine incuse relief within a linear square border, itself set within a recessed incuse square. The royal ethnic legend APXEΛΑΟ is inscribed along the border of the linear square, identifying the issuing monarch Archelaus I. The incuse technique reflects the standard Macedonian reverse type of the period, with the design elements cleanly struck and well-centred within the square format. |
