| Obverse description | Diademed head of Antiochos III the Great facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic portrait style. The royal diadem is tied around the voluminous, elaborately coiled hair, with the ends of the fillet visible behind the neck. The facial features are idealized yet individualized, with a strong profile, prominent nose, and cleanly defined chin. The hair is rendered with considerable sculptural depth, with layered curling locks falling behind the ear and cascading to the neck. The field is plain, with no surrounding legend on the obverse. |

| Reverse description | Apollo, the dynastic deity of the Seleucid house, seated in three-quarter view to the left upon the sacred omphalos, his nude body rendered with Hellenistic elegance. In his extended right hand he holds an arrow, while his left hand rests upon a grounded bow at his side. The Greek royal legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ to the outer left and ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ to the outer right frames the central type. Monograms appear in the outer fields and in the exergue, serving as mint control marks characteristic of Seleukeia on the Tigris issues of this period. |
