| Obverse description | Central device depicts the horned head of Pan facing left, wearing a goat skin around his neck and with a lagobolon (hare-staff) visible behind; the head is rendered in fine Hellenistic style with distinctive caprine features. The entire figure is set within the boss of a large Macedonian shield, whose broad rim is decorated with an alternating pattern of stars and crescents, a characteristic Antigonid dynastic motif. The shield's concentric border treatment is typical of the Amphipolis mint coinage of Antigonus II Gonatas. No inscription appears on the obverse. |
