| Obverse description | Central device depicting the horned head of Pan facing left, wearing a goat skin around his neck and with a lagobolon (hare-staff) visible behind; the head is set within the boss of a large Macedonian shield, whose broad rim is decorated with an alternating pattern of stars and crescents rendered in relief. The composition is characteristic of the royal Antigonid coinage and alludes to Pan's association with the Macedonian military tradition, recalling the victory at Lysimacheia attributed to divine intervention by Pan. |
