Obverse description Youthful head of Herakles facing right, wearing the Nemean lion skin headdress with the scalp drawn over the crown and the forepaws knotted at the throat, rendered in fine high relief typical of early Macedonian coinage. The facial features display idealized classical Greek portraiture, with a strong brow, almond-shaped eye, and slightly parted lips. The lion's mane frames the face with deeply cut, naturalistic detail, extending from the nape to the jaw. The field is smooth and largely unadorned, with the portrait dominating the flan. No legend appears on the obverse.
