| Obverse description | Youthful head of Herakles in right profile, wearing the Nemean lion skin as a headdress, the scalp tied beneath the chin with the forepaws knotted at the throat. The modeling is vigorous and deeply struck, with finely rendered curling hair escaping beneath the lion scalp. The field is broad and unadorned, with a beaded border visible along the upper rim. The portraiture follows the idealized Lysippan tradition associated with the canonical Alexander coinage. |
