Reverse description Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned in left-facing three-quarter view upon a high-backed throne, his semi-nude muscular torso draped with a himation across the lower body. His outstretched right hand holds an eagle perched with wings closed, while his left hand rests upon a long vertical scepter. The Greek legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs vertically along the right field, and a crescent symbol appears in the left field as a mint control mark associated with the Amphipolis issue. The throne is rendered in architectural detail with crossed legs and horizontal bars, and a dotted border encircles the entire design.
